Construction Site Health & Safety Officer is needed for an on-going project in Malta, NY beginning in April, 2011. This opportunity could lead to a permanent opportunity or can run for the duration of the local project approximately 6 months- 1 year.
POSITION SUMMARY:
· Manage the Safety, Health and Environmental Compliance program on a construction site in Malta, NY.
· Will be responsible for the day-to-day implementation of the Safety and Health and Environmental Compliance Plans for construction projects.
POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES AND DUTIES:
· Safety Officer acts as a liaison between their Project Manager and will oversee 35-50 construction workers on facility site.
· Safety Officers have the following responsibilities:
· Implement the site specific Environmental, Health & Safety Plan including the performance of Health & Safety Audits.
· Conduct safety inspections, safety training and provide Safety Reports
· Assist in preparation of Site Environmental, Health and Safety Plans and arrange for review of all safety plans prior to submittal for approval.
· Monitor training needs, provide and/or assist in providing training.
· Review monthly exposure/injury Reports; Assist with Incident Report preparation, review and transmittal; Investigate incidents.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:
· Bachelor's degree or equivalent plus 4 years experience.
· Training required for Construction Site Safety and Health Officer II is a plus.
· Two supervisor level or competencies such as excavation, equipment inspection, scaffolding, confined space entry rescue, demolition
